Privacy
BacaFonik is played by children, so the shortest version is the one that matters: there are no accounts, no ads and no advertising. What a child does stays in this browser, apart from three things a parent chooses: the welcome card, linking the tablet to a purchase, and anonymous usage data.
What stays on this device
The welcome card saves the child’s name and age, star progress, the chosen language and whether the games are unlocked in this browser’s local storage. That is a feature, not a collection: the games greet your child and remember their progress without asking a server for it.
Tapping “Let’s play” also sends the child’s first name, their age and the parent’s email once, and we store them with the date. That is all that leaves the tablet before a parent links it: no stars, no answers, no profile, nothing about what the child can read. It exists so that a parent who comes back — on a new tablet, or after clearing this one — can be recognised and the games set up again.
The learning record — stars, the sounds practised — is uploaded only when a parent links the tablet. Linking is optional and happens only when a parent enters the email they paid with and the payment id from their Kasera receipt: the child's name, age, stars and the record of which sounds have been practised are then copied to our database, so the same two fields bring them back on a new tablet. “Delete family data” in the parents' sheet erases that copy; clearing the browser's site data removes the copy on this device. Without linking, the learning record never leaves the tablet, and we cannot recover it for you.
Anonymous usage data
Anonymous usage data is on by default. It sends only the stripped events below — no name, no email, no profile — and it honours your browser’s Do Not Track setting. There is no switch in the app; to opt out, browse with Do Not Track enabled, or clear this site’s data.
Events go to PostHog’s servers in the United States, in cookieless mode: no cookie, no stored identifier, no profile, no session recording, no autocapture, no advertising. Each event carries a game name, whether an answer was right, whether it was a first or later attempt, and counts — never a name, an email, or anything typed.
- Which game was opened, finished or abandoned, and how many questions were answered.
- Whether an answer was correct, and whether it took more than one try.
- Whether help, the parents’ sheet or the install prompt was opened.
- The language chosen, and a banded count of children added on the device (1, 2, 3+).
- Technical events such as an update being applied, with no content attached.
We do not use it to build a profile, to advertise, or to contact anyone. Aggregate events are kept for at most twelve months.
Email, if you give one
A parent’s email is used in two places: the welcome card, where it is stored with the child’s first name and age so a returning parent can be recognised, and the purchase. When a tablet is linked, it is also stored with the family record. It is never sold, never added to a mailing list, and never used for advertising. The email alone does not open a family’s data, because the payment id is required as well. The welcome-card record is kept until you ask us to delete it.
Payment
Unlocking the paid stages is a single payment handled by Kasera Pay, an Indonesian payment gateway. Payment details are entered on Kasera Pay’s page and never reach BacaFonik; we receive only whether the payment succeeded. There is no subscription and no stored payment method.
Children’s privacy
There are no child accounts, no passwords for children, no advertising, no behavioural profiling, no chat and nothing to buy inside a game. The only data about a child we hold is what a parent types into the welcome card — a first name and an age band — and, if they choose to link the tablet, the learning record. We do not knowingly collect anything else about a child. Under Indonesia’s Personal Data Protection Law (UU No. 27 Tahun 2022), a child’s data is specific personal data: the safest way to protect it is to collect as little as possible, which is why the card asks for three fields and no more.
A parent or guardian decides whether anonymous usage data is on, and can turn it off at any time.
Third parties
The app talks to three kinds of service, and two of them are avoidable by using it offline:
- Google Fonts serves Alata and Nunito. The request includes the visitor’s IP address; only the font files come back.
- PostHog (United States) receives the anonymous events described above, in cookieless mode.
- Kasera Pay handles payment when a parent unlocks the paid stages.
Our host keeps standard server logs (IP address, time, requested file) for security and reliability.
Your choices
- Use your browser’s Do Not Track setting to opt out of anonymous usage data.
- Clear this browser’s site data to remove the profile, progress and preferences kept here.
- Ask us to delete what we hold — the welcome-card record, an email address or a linked family — or to answer a question about this policy: [email protected].
Changes to this policy
When this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. Material changes are noted inside the app, not only here.
Questions or a deletion request
Write to [email protected]. We answer questions about this policy, and delete anything we hold on request.
